First of all we put together a "snack" bar. As a take-home treat, the kids could fix snack bags (CUTE bags I found at Target in their party section) full of colorful treats. We had M&Ms, Skittles, Fruit Loops, Gummy bears and Worms, Rainbow goldfish, smarties and Trix cereal.
I had a fun Birthday Subway Art I had downloaded from eighteen25 as some decor for the snack table. You can find it here.
I also made sucker bouquets with Dum-Dum suckers and some cute and colorful cups I found at Wal-mart. They were so easy to make and a cute table decoration. We let each family take one home as a treat!
I started with the cup and cut a piece of styrofoam to fit down snugly inside the cup. I then used the dum-dum stickers and started to place them in the styrofoam.
Once I had all the suckers in the styrofoam, I put some colorful raffia in around the sticks to "fill" in the gaps and add some more color!
These are the finished product. Each bouquet probably cost about $2-3 to make.
I was going to do balloons too, but we ran out of time! Colorful tablecloths, napkins and plates completed the decor. It was all simple, easy to put together and inexpensive!
My sister also made this "Celebrate" banner out of fabric and felt. She appliqued the letters on and I love it. We can use for each child's birthday week and even other celebratory occasions! I hung it up at the party and then brought it home for the mantle in our family room.
