Well, Greg and I went to the Prom Saturday evening.
Actually, if you want to be technical about it, we CHAPERONED the Prom Saturday evening. I was the sponsor/chief decorator/coordinator and chaperone extraordinaire for the school where I am serving as a High School Counselor! Greg was there by default :) It actually was a lot of fun. We got dressed up (I wore the dress I wore in Jenny's wedding 8 1/2 year ago - that by itself was worth every bit of the running I am doing) and my mom watched the boys. Other than the DELUGE of rain we were getting and a few students showing a little too much PDA, the entire evening was a success!
We even went to Steak and Shake with another couple, Brad and Missy, after the dance and got home at 2 am. We used to go out all the time really late BEFORE children. Since Mom was home with them and they were fast asleep, we decided to go out for a snack after the dance. We of course are still paying for that choice today with our bottoms dragging on the ground :) It was worth it at the moment, though!
To be young again - all the girls in their pretty dresses, the guys in their suits and tuxedos, flowers, pictures, white lights and dancing.....Lots of things have changed in the 16 years since my Senior prom (Did I just say 16? YIKES!) but most things are still the same. There is actually some comfort in that!
The only thing I wish was that I was able to know my husband at that time in his life.....but I guess God brought us together at exactly the right time. He probably wouldn't have liked me in high school and I would have been too fickle to give him a chance!
I wish I could say I had a picture to share of this event, but I was so busy taking care of the details that I forgot to get OUR picture taken!
