Another Stack of Books

Two weeks ago or so, Mom and I took Blake and Noah to Barnes and Noble to spend their birthday gift cards.  They, like their Mommy, can get lost in a bookstore and take forever picking out new treasures.  I was looking for books that I thought to be age and reading level appropriate for both of them.  We found some "classics" and they were buy two get one free, so I bought a few of them.

Noah and I have read Sherlock Holmes together and he LOVED it.  I think I have a new mystery/sleuth lover on my hands.  I devoured Nancy Drew novels as a girl and then Mary Higgins Clark as a teenager.  I may have to find some Hardy Boys books for Noah.

Currently, we are reading Tom Sawyer together.

Blake read The Lemonade War and its' sequel, The Lemonade Crime in two days!  He also read Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH and really liked it  I remember watching a movie, The Secret of NIMH as a child.

We also picked up several biographies - Childhood of Famous Americans series.  We got Wilbur and Orville Wright, Ben Franklin, Albert Einstein and Buffalo Bill.  If they like these, I will get some more.  One of my favorite biographies I ever read as a child was Clara Barton's  and I still remember it!

Blake read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for his summer book report.

We still have several to get through and the nice thing is that when one of them finishes the book, the other can read it.  Then we will save them for Andy and Jake!

What are some books your children are reading?  Do you read with them?  I find that even though the boys love to read independently, they still want me to read to them at night.
