Sometimes a Swiffer Just Won't Do

Do you ever have a day when your have 20 minutes to straighten your entire house (or at least the parts everyone sees)?  Someone calls and says they'd like to drop by and you were NOT expecting company?
Those are the days that I make a made dash to take out trash in bathrooms, wipe sinks and toilets down with clorox wipes, quickly vacuum the family room and kitchen and grab all items that are scattered around and quickly put them away.

A swiffer dust mop or vacuum will work on those days.

The other day, however, a swiffer just wouldn't do.

I was cleaning and vacuuming the whole house.  I decided I needed to mop my kitchen floor.  I got out the Pine-Sol (if you know me, you know I LOVE the smell of Pine-Sol) and made a bucket of warm soapy water.  I started wiping down the appliances, scrubbing at stains and little finger/handprints left behind.  Then I had Greg help me move the refrigerator away from the wall and attacked the dust/grime behind the fridge (YUCK!).

Of course by then, I needed a new bucket of clean water.  I then proceeded to clean the kitchen floor on my hands and knees with a rag.  Sometimes, it is enough to "give it a lick and a promise" as my Mom used to say.  But with four children in our house, this floor needed deep cleaning!  It smelled so good and looked so clean afterward.  I wish I had time to do that every week!

How about you?

Are there chores you don't have time for that you want to complete?

Is there a certain cleaning product that you associate the smell with being clean?

What is the one project you really want to tackle this week?

Make the time for it and do it!  Just doing that floor made me feel like even if parts of the rest of my house were in need of attention, my family room and kitchen (where we spend the most time) were clean.
