Last Full Week of Summer

WHAT??????

Did I just type that Title?  The last FULL week of summer?  How in the world did June and July fly past us?  I knew it would happen, but it seems like we haven't had any summer at all.  With our church's VBS, vacation to the lake and beach, swimming lessons, library programs and more, we have kept busy and summer break is almost gone.

My kids can drive me CRAZY some days, but I truly enjoy having them home for the summer.  It seems like we each consecutive school year that time slips by faster.  I have a THIRD and FIRST grader this year - REALLY?  I don't know how in the world that happened!  Andy is three and we are going to be doing some fun preschool things with him at home and in about 7 weeks we will have a newborn in our home again.

It seems impossible that school will start next Wednesday.  I am not ready and I am having a hard time rustling up my enthusiasm this year.  My boys are not ready either so I am going to have to get excited for them to muster up some excitement.  I have started trying to get them in bed earlier, knowing that 6:30 will come early next week.  The first week or two is always hard for them and I have some grouchy bears after school some days.  Noah came home last year and fell asleep almost every day after school started for at least a month.  Homework will start again, keeping up with spelling words, memory verses and permission slips.

I know I cannot avoid the inevitable, but we are going to make the most of our last few days.  We went swimming today and we are going again tomorrow and Friday.  Tonight we are meeting some friends for dinner.  I am not sure what fun we will get into this weekend, but I am sure we'll find something to do.  I am trying to come up with something REALLY great for next Tuesday to celebrate our last day.  I'll let you know what we decide :)
