I must apologize - I said I was going to do all of these posts every day and I have been a SLACKER this past week!
I would remember something I wanted to write, but I was so busy, the blog got left behind.
This past Saturday, we had a Spring Carnival at school. Missy G. and I were in charge of the whole thing and let me tell you - it involved a lot of planning and last minute detail work to pull it off! We had hoped to have it outside and the weather all week was beautiful. Sadly, on Saturday it poured! The indoors version seemed to be a hit and there were probably around 250 kids there.
Each class had a game they were in charge of staffing. We had face painting, BINGO, the cake walk, duck pond, bean bag toss, ring toss, PLINKO, sandbox treasure hunt and so many more. We also had two large inflatables for the big kids and three small ones for kids 4 and under. Concessions were sno-cones, cotton candy, popcorn and drinks. Students earned tickets at the games and then could cash them in at the prize booth (like at Chuck E Cheese or Gatti Town). The best part about the WHOLE thing was that it was completely free. Everyone could come and enjoy themselves and not spend a dime. In this economy, you cannot say that often.
I am so thankful for the parents and teachers who showed up and stayed the whole time and helped anywhere we needed them. I am also thankful for the middle school/high school students who manned the games and helped us. It was a team effort and it turned out to be a great success!
On top of the Carnival, we had three soccer games this weekend, a birthday party, Greg and Blake worked on Build-A-Bed, Greg had to work the computer at both services at church and I taught in the preschool Sunday morning. Throw in meetings after school this week, my ultrasound appointment and all the normal stuff and you have a pretty full week!
Blake had a field trip on Friday that I am going to feature this week - Prairie School. We also finally moved Andy to a "big boy bed" in preparation for the new baby -of course I have pictures of this! This week may end up following a pattern or it may not - we'll see!
But I know that the next couple of weeks are going to be just as busy as we head to the end of school!
