I cannot tell you how many times in my life that provision has been there for me - money, emotional support, friendships, family, networking, food, etc. So many times, things just did not add up on paper, but we still made it! I can list countless ways just since Greg and I have been married that we have stepped out on faith (like for me to quit working and stay home with our kids) and things have fallen into place.
SO MANY TIMES. With no explanation - except Godly provisions.
In the past few weeks, several things have once again happened in that way. For example, my van needed a new timing belt/water pump because it has 100,000 miles on it. They mentioned it to us earlier this summer. We were considering when to take care of it. Last week, I got an email from the dealership with a $100 coupon for that particular service. Earlier this summer they had also mentioned replacing the power steering pump. We were going to do that at some point as well. Then two weeks ago, we received a letter from Honda saying those were having problems and they were extending warranties on those to get them repaired. We were already at 100,000 miles, but Greg called and they decided to honor it - YIPPEE - $100 we didn't have to pay! Yesterday we got all of the above fixed and saved $200.
Each year when we consider what school our children will go to, something always happens to help offset the cost of their school. One year, when Blake started preschool, I shopped around for car/home insurance and found a much better deal. We saved over $1300 for the year by switching. His preschool for the year was only a little more than that! The next year when he started Kindergarten, Greg's raise for the year was almost exactly the difference in preK tuition and K tuition. When Noah started pre-K an opportunity for me to work one day a week at school as the counselor opened up and now I make a little money and get a partial tuition discount as an employee that offsets a chunk of their tuition.
I can continue to list more examples.....but I would rather say this - be faithful with what the Lord has given you. He will bless you - maybe not with money - but he will always take care of you.
Matthew 6:25-34
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
How are you sharing your blessings? How has God provided for you? Have you thanked him? If not, do it now!
